Are You Paying Attention To Your Building Exterior?
When it comes to office cleaning, everyone tends to focus on the inside of the building. It makes sense when you think about it – after all, that is where everyone is working, and it needs to be clean and tidy to create a pleasant environment to work in.
But do you neglect the exterior of your building completely?
If you do, you may be doing your business a disservice. There are lots of reasons why you should be giving as much attention to the outside of your premises as you do to the inside. And not all of them have anything to do with your employees.
There is no doubt that you should be keeping the exterior clean and tidy in order to keep it safe. The walls, roof and surroundings are subjected to whatever the weather throws at them, and that means there is every chance that repairs will need doing from time to time.
An efficient all round commercial cleaning company will often be able to take care of these for you as well. This gives you an excellent reason to hire a company that offers a comprehensive service – both inside your building and out.
But even discounting the repairs, it helps greatly to keep the grounds surrounding your building clean, tidy and smart. The more untidy it gets the more chance there is of someone having an accident. And regardless of whether that is a staff member or a visitor it doesn’t spell out good news for your company.
But there is more to taking care of every area of your business like this than just safety reasons. There is also the very important point of making a good impression with everyone who sees your premises from the outside.
It’s worth thinking about this for a moment. Let’s suppose your business is situated right next door to a competing business in the same field. The exterior of their building is clean and bright; the windows are clean and polished and the grounds are free from rubbish and weeds.
Your building on the other hand could do with a little more loving care. There is nothing dangerous there, but it looks as though it is in need of some serious cleaning.
Now if you approached those buildings, which one would you be most likely to walk into?
I’m sure if you are honest you would say that the clean, bright and well taken care of building would win the day. The assumption (even if you don’t consciously think about it) is that the better looking building houses a better company that takes pride in everything it does – including its appearance.
That is why it is worth paying attention to how good your company looks from every angle. Why run the risk of giving out a bad impression even before a potential customer walks through the door?
And of course, you would never know who decided not to come in to begin with. So make a difference and start taking care of the whole of your business today.
